CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis traveled south on Saturday and played a pair of matches in Campbellsville, Kentucky. IWU lost a close 5-2 decision to No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) but ended the trip with a 5-0 victory over host #RV Campbellsville (Ky.).

What Went Down vs. Lindsey Wilson

• Lindsey Wilson grabbed an early lead with wins in two of three doubles matches.
• Katie Wilson (SR/Middletown, Ind.) and Lucia Solis (FR/Tucuman, Argentina) won the top doubles match 8-5 for the lone Wildcat win in doubles.
• Rachel Bottorff (JR/Newburgh, Ind.) and Alex Mella (FR/Libertyville, Ill.) lost 8-6 at No. 2-doubles and the duo of Kelsey Vessels (JR/Roanoke, Ind.) and Ellen Hornett (JR/Fishers, Ind.) were defeated 8-3 at No. 3-doubles.
• The Blue Raiders won three of four singles matches that were completed. The final two matches were not played all the way out as LWC had secured the team victory.
• Rachel Bottorff won No. 3-singles for the lone Wildcat win. She won by scores of 6-1, 6-3.
• Katie Wilson lost 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 at No. 1, Lucia Solis dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 2, and Marissa Klein (FR/Evansville, Ind) was defeated 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.

What Went Down vs. Campbellsville

• Indiana Wesleyan made quick work of Campbellsville, 5-0. IWU swept doubles and then won the first two singles matches that were completed for the team win. The other four singles matches were not completed.
• Katie Wilson and Lucia Solis won 8-5 at No. 1-doubles, Rachel Bottorff and Alex Mella were victorious 8-1 at No. 2-doubles, while Kelsey Vessels and Ellen Hornett pulled out an 8-3 win at No. 3-doubles.
• Rachel Bottorff and Alex Mella were the two Wildcats to collect singles wins. Bottorff won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 while Mella earned the point at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

• Indiana Wesleyan travels to the southern part of the state next weekend. IWU plays at Evansville (Ind.) on April 8 and then battle Southern Indiana on April 9. Both matches will be contested in Evansville, Indiana.
