SAVANNAH, Ga. -- No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis continued its Spring Break trip on Saturday with two matches in Georgia. IWU defeated #RV Coastal Georgia by a 5-1 score in the morning and then lost their first match of the year 7-2 at No. 4 SCAD Savannah (Ga.).

What Went Down vs. Coastal Georgia
- Indiana Wesleyan gained a 2-1 lead following the conclusion of doubles play.
- Rachel Bottorff (JR/Newburgh, Ind.) and Alex Mella (FR/Libertyville, Ill.) won 8-0 at No. 2-doubles and Indiana Wesleyan won No. 3-doubles by default as Coastal Georgia only had four players available.
- Katie Wilson (SR/Middletown, Ind.) and Lucia Solis (FR/Tucuman, Argentina) fell 9-7 in the No. 1-doubles match.
- The Wildcats had two wins in singles by default with the lack of Coastal Georgia players.
- Alex Mella made quick work at No. 4-singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win. Her win gave Indiana Wesleyan the fifth and deciding point in the team match. The final three matches were not completed as both team had afternoon matches to play in.
- Katie Wilson, Rachel Bottorff, and Lucia Solis all had 6-3 wins in the first set of their singles matches which were ended early with the Wildcat team victory already secured.
What Went Down vs. SCAD Savannah
- Indiana Wesleyan lost their first match of the year in a 7-2 defeat at No. 4 Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah.
- SCAD Savannah built the early 2-1 lead following the conclusion of doubles play. Rachel Bottorff and Alex Mella won the only point in doubles for the Wildcats with an 8-6 win at No. 2.
- Katie Wilson and Lucia Solis fell 8-5 at No. 1-doubles and Kelsey Vessels (JR/Roanoke, Ind.) and Ellen Hornett (JR/Fishers, Ind.) lost 8-6 at No. 3-doubles.
- Rachel Bottorff won the only singles match for the Wildcats with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3-singles.
- Katie Wilson went three sets before losing at the No. 2-singles position. She lost by scores of 6-4, 5-7, 13-11.
- Lucia Solis was defeated 6-4, 6-1 in the battle at No. 1-singles against the second ranked player in the country and Alex Mella lost 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4-singles. Mikayla Marazzi (JR/Abbotsford, BC) dropped a 6-3, 6-3 decision at No. 5-singles and Marissa Klein (FR/Evansville, Ind) lost the point at No. 6-singles by a 6-2, 6-1 score.
