UPLAND, Ind. -- It was a long day of play for Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis as they sat through two rain delays before defeating host Taylor (Ind.) by a 9-0 margin in Upland, Indiana.
The Wildcats remain perfect with a 9-0 record this season and a 6-0 record in the Crossroads League.
Katie Wilson (SR/Middletown, Ind.) and Lucia Solis (FR/Tucuman, Argentina) won 8-6 in No. 1-doubles while the No. 2 team of Rachel Bottorff (JR/Newburgh, Ind.) and Alex Mella (FR/Libertyville, Ill.) and the No. 3 team of Kelsey Vessels (JR/Roanoke, Ind.) and Ellen Hornett (JR/Fishers, Ind.) both won by 8-1 scores.
Solis collected a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1-singles and Wilson easily won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2-singles. Bottorff played No. 3-singles and Mikayla Marazzi (JR/Abbotsford, BC) played at No. 4-singles and both won by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Marissa Klein (FR/Evansville, Ind) survived a 6-7, 6-4, 10-5 victory at No. 5-singles and Vessels finished with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 6-singles.
Indiana Wesleyan next plays at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at home against Saint Francis (Ind.). The match will be contested at the Sutter Tennis Center.
