LIMA, Ohio -- Indiana Wesleyan University men’s tennis fell 7-2 on Saturday in a non-league contest at Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
The Wildcats earned one point in doubles and singles matches. Gavin White (SO/Lakeland, Fla.) and Leonard Mathews (JR/Merrillville, Ind.) gained the only doubles point for the Wildcats with an 8-5 victory in No. 2-doubles. Joel Montgomery (FR/Powell, Ohio) then claimed the only IWU point in singles with a 4-6, 7-6, 10-1 victory at the No. 4 position.
In the other two doubles matches, Kyle Johnson (SR/East Moline, Ill.) and Brandon Dubuque (JR/Marion, Ind.) lost 8-3 in the No. 1 match while Montgomery and Kamen Tabor (JR/Marion, Ind.) lost 8-6 at No. 3-doubles.
In singles, Johnson was defeated 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 in the top position while White lost 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 2-singles spot. Mathews was beaten 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3-singles, Dubuque lost 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5-singles, and Austin Christner (FR/Goshen, Ind.) was defeated 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6-singles.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Crossroads League competition at 3 p.m. on Tuesday as IWU travels to Winona Lake, Indiana to play Grace (Ind.).
