ANDERSON, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis has no problem at Anderson (Ind.) today as the Wildcats cruised to a 9-0 victory in Anderson, Indiana.
The Wildcats used 11 players in the match and only lost 11 games in the process. The victory improves the IWU record to 4-1 on the season while Anderson falls to 0-2.
The No. 2-doubles team of Rachel Bottorff (SO/Newburgh, Ind.) and Kelsey Vessels (SO/Roanoke, Ind.) and the No. 3-doubles team of Diane Jones (SR/Greenwood, Ind.) and Courtney Siepman (JR/Plainfield, Ind.) each claimed 8-0 victories. The top doubles team of Katie Wilson (JR/Middletown, Ind.) and Kim Mella (SR/Libertyville, Ill.) finished with an 8-1 win for a 3-0 start for the Wildcats.
Courtney Clark (FR/Middlebury, Ind.) at No. 5-singles and Makenzie Estrem (FR/Greenwood, Ind.) at No. 6-singles each won their match by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Siepman played at No. 1 and was victorious 6-1, 6-2 while Morgan Smith (FR/Bremen, Ind.) earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 play. Gabby D’Aniello earned the point at No. 3-singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory and Ellen Hornett (SO/Fishers, Ind.) took a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4-singles.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the courts at 10 a.m. on Saturday in a non-league match vs. Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
