Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- Junior guard Emma Stahl knocked down a career-best 25 points as No. 7-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University women’s basketball ended their three game skid with a 74-47 road victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).
Stahl finished 11-of-15 from the floor and bested her career-high of 19 points which she recorded earlier this season. She scored 15 of her points in the first half where she was a perfect 3-of-3 from 3-point range.
Despite the huge performance from Stahl, the Wildcats struggled early as the Cougars captured an early 13-6 lead. The Wildcats scored the next 10 points for a 16-13 advantage. Stahl hit a 3-pointer with the game nine minutes old to give IWU its first lead of the day.
Mount Vernon Nazarene tied the score at 16-16 but Indiana Wesleyan scored 12 unanswered and did not trail again. Katrina Blackmon finished the first half scoring with a bucket at the buzzer for a 30-22 lead.
A 13-2 run to start second half of play put the game away for good for the Wildcats as the Cougars could get no closer than 12 points the rest of the way. The final differential of 27 points was the high for the Wildcats, which they reached on three different occasions.
Erika Isham was the only other Wildcat besides Stahl with a double digit performance. Isham scored 12 points -- 10 in the second half -- in addition to 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Taylor Goshert added eight points and nine rebounds while Blackmon earned nine points and five boards.
Indiana Wesleyan (20-6, 10-4 CL) shot 49.2-percent (29 of 59) from the field and 46.2-percent (6 of 13) from beyond the arc. Defensively, IWU limited Mount Vernon Nazarene to 30.8-percent (16 of 52) shooting and forced 18 Cougar turnovers.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Luckey Arena on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. as IWU hosts Grant County rival Taylor (Ind.).
