Box Score UPLAND, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball had a solid bounce back performance today from their first loss in over a month with a 3-1 win against Point Park (Pa.) in Upland, Indiana at the IWU/TU Tournament.
Indiana Wesleyan dropped the first set of the match 25-16 but answered to win the next three sets for the 3-1 victory. IWU won those games by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-13 to improve to 15-4 this season. Point Park drops to 14-9. Indiana Wesleyan rebounded today after their first loss since August 23 on Wednesday at Taylor (Ind.). The loss ended the team’s 13 match win streak.
“I’m really proud of the girls for the way they bounced back after their loss on Wednesday,” said IWU head coach Candace Moats. “We came out more polished and more focused and executed the game plan today. They are a great bunch who are growing and loving each other every day.”
Bianca Cifaldi (SO/Itasca, Ill.) led all players Friday with 12 kills. She had a .267 hitting percentage and two block assists. Remy Bucknor (SO/Euless, Texas) added 11 kills, a .556 hitting percentage, three solo blocks, and four block assists. Emily Workman (FR/Tinley Park, Ill.) had a match-best 23 assists and Ashlen Buck (SO/Brazil, Ind.) finished with 15 digs. Sam Elkin (SO/Ebensburg, Pa.) and Banner Rodgers (FR/Carrollton, Texas) each served two aces.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to action tomorrow at 6 p.m. vs. No. 14-ranked Georgetown (Ky.). The match will be played at Luckey Arena during IWU Homecoming.
