WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis team notched another easy victory on Saturday with a 9-0 victory at Grace (Ind.) in Winona Lake, Indiana.
The three doubles matches would be an indicator for the rest of the afternoon. The No. 1-doubles team of Kim Mella and Katie Wilson plus the No. 2 pair of Kristen Futrell and Rachel Bottorff each cruised to 8-1 victories. The No. 3 tandem of Courtney Siepman and Ellen Hornett gained an 8-2 win.
Grace failed to win more than two games in any set in five of six singles matches.
Wilson (6-2, 6-2) won the top contest, Bottorff (6-0 6-0) earned the point in No. 2-singles, and Rachael Heiniger (6-4, 7-6) captured the No. 3-singles victory. Mella (6-1, 6-1) picked up the win in No. 4-singles, Futrell (6-0, 6-1) was victorious in No. 5 play, and Siepman (6-2, 6-0) completed the sweep with the No. 6 win.
Indiana Wesleyan improves their overall record to 7-0 and 4-0 in Crossroads League contests. IWU next plays Huntington (Ind.) at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Sutter Tennis Center.
