Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. -- Crossroads League play is officially underway for the No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men’s soccer team as they went on the road and defeated Goshen (Ind.) 2-0 on Wednesday night.
Indiana Wesleyan has now won their Crossroads League opener three straight years. The previous two wins to start league play came against Saint Francis (Ind.).
Both Wildcat goals came in the first half and came from two players who recorded their first goal of the season. Kyle Beimers scored the game-winner in the 14th minute for the early 1-0 lead. Beimers’ goal came off of a corner kick play which saw IWU take three shots before the goal was scored.
The second goal came a mere six minutes later. Tad Glibert headed home the score off a high bouncing ball that found its way in front of the net. Keaton Albert and Geoff Bowman were credited with assists on the play.
Indiana Wesleyan dominated play throughout the evening. IWU outshot Goshen by a 16-5 margin and put 11 shots on goal compared to just two for Goshen. Josh Goepper collected two saves in net for Indiana Wesleyan for the shutout.
The Wildcats improve to 6-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in league action while the Maple Leafs fall to 2-6-0 and 0-1-1 in the Crossroads League. IWU has won six straight meetings against GC dating back to the 2009 season.
Indiana Wesleyan opens their home schedule in the Crossroads League on Saturday night versus Saint Francis (Ind.). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Field.
