MARION, Ind. - No. 19 Indiana Wesleyan Men's Soccer hosted No. 25 Olivet Nazarene University for an evening match at IWU Soccer Field on Saturday night. ONU struck very early with a goal in the first minute of the match. Howver, the Wildcats were able to fight back and tied it at 1 later in the first half. The battle between the two top 25 teams continued all the way until the final whistle sounded, but neither side was able to overcome the other. This marks the first tie for both teams this season. IWU will look to its next matchup on Tuesday, September 1st against No. 23 Madonna.
The Tigers came out swinging and delivered a blow in the very first minute of the match to go up 1-0 on their first shot. However, the Wildcats did not give up and came back strong. IWU ended up outshooting ONU the rest of the way and broke through with a Yarek Carnegie goal assisted by Jose Garcia in the 32nd minute. The home team locked down the Olivet Nazarene offense as well, only allowing 3 shots in the match. Despite once again outshooting their opponent in the second period, IWU could not find the game winning goal and came to a draw with the Tigers.
