MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Saturday afternoon brought about another win for the Indiana Wesleyan University women’s tennis team as the Wildcats defeated Bethel (Ind.) 7-2 in Crossroads League play in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Indiana Wesleyan swept the doubles matches and then took four of six singles contests.
Katie Wilson teamed with Kim Mella at the No. 1-doubles spot and won 8-6. Kristen Futrell and Rachel Bottorff had an 8-3 win at No. 2-doubles while Sarah Richert and Diane Jones won the point in the third position with an 8-3 victory.
The Wildcats completed the afternoon with four out of six wins in singles. Bottorff won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2-singles and Mella claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win in No. 4 play. Futrell gained a 6-2, 6-0 win in No. 5-singles and Siepman easily won 6-0, 6-1 in No. 6 action. Wilson fell 5-7, 3-6 in the top match while Heiniger lost 4-6, 3-6 in No. 3-singles.
Indiana Wesleyan now stands 4-0 this season and 3-0 in Crossroads League play. Bethel drops to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in the league.
The Wildcats will next play a non-conference match at 3 p.m. on Tuesday against Northwestern Ohio. The match will be contested at the Sutter Tennis Center.
