MARION, Ind. -- Grace (Ind.) College provided little resistance as Indiana Wesleyan University easily won 9-0 in women's tennis action today at the Sutter Tennis Center.
The win improves the Wildcats' record to 6-0 this season and 4-0 in Crossroads League play.
The afternoon began with three quick doubles victories for Indiana Wesleyan. Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson won 8-1 in the top doubles match while Kristen Futrell and Rachael Heiniger earned an 8-0 shutout in No. 2 play. Katie Wilson and Sarah Richert completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win in No. 3 action.
Momentum from doubles carried into singles play. Heiniger had the toughest competition of the day but still claimed the point in relative ease with a 6-3, 6-1 win in No. 1-singles. Katie Wilson in No. 2-singles and Lauren Wilson in No. 4-singles each won by scores of 6-0, 6-0 while Meyering in No. 3-singles, Futrell in No. 5-singles, and Richert in No. 6-singles each surrendered just a single game in their victories.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the courts early next week with a home match against Huntington (Ind.) University. The match will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11.
