GREENTOWN, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team quickly disposed of visiting Bethel (Ind.) College on Saturday by a 5-0 score.
The match was called after Indiana Wesleyan won its fifth match since the competition was being played indoors due to rain. The match took place at the Howard County Tennis Complex.
Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson formed the No. 1-doubles unit and won 8-5 while Kim Mella and Katie Wilson earned an 8-3 win in No. 2-doubles. Kristen Futrell and Rachael Heiniger completed the doubles sweep with an easy 8-1 victory in No. 3 action.
The Wildcats then needed just two singles matches to win the team match 5-0. Getting the job done was Heiniger (6-1, 6-1) in No. 1-singles and Mella (6-1, 6-1) in No. 6-singles.
The victory improves the Wildcats' mark to 4-0 this season and 3-0 in Crossroads League action. IWU returns to the courts in non-league play at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima, Ohio.
