MOBILE, Ala. -- Spring Arbor (Mich.) University defeated Indiana Wesleyan University 5-1 in the NCCAA National Championship semifinals today in Mobile, Alabama.
The defeat brings a close to the Indiana Wesleyan 2011-12 season with a 12-11 record.
Indiana Wesleyan earned one win in doubles competitions as all three matches finished with identical 8-5 scores. Brooks Ayers and Alex Hornett teamed in No. 3-doubles for the lone IWU point.
Spring Arbor then won the first three matches completed in singles play to end the team match at 5-1. SAU earned wins in No. 2-singles, No. 3-singles, and No. 6-singles. Ayers held a 6-5 advantage in No. 4-singles and Daniel Stoddard won the first set 6-2 in No. 5-singles when the match was called.
