CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- The No. 16-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team had a strong showing on the road with a 9-0 sweep of NCAA Division II Cedarville (Ohio) University.
The Wildcats started the match with a sweep of doubles play.
Lauren Wilson and Andrea Meyering teamed up at No. 1-doubles for an 8-0 victory while Rachael Heiniger and Kim Mella won at No. 2-doubles 8-3. Aubrey Lohser and Diane Jones completed the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win at No. 3-doubles.
The Wildcats continued the strong play into singles by winning all six matches. Heiniger defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1-singles, Meyering cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2-singles, and Wilson was victorious at No. 3-singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win. Mella beat her opponent at No. 4-singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win, Sarah Richert conquered her opponent at No. 5-singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, and Lohser completed the match with a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 6-singles.
The Wildcats improve to 5-2 in the spring and 19-2 overall on the year. They will be hitting the courts again with a home match at Sutter Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24 versus NCAA Division I Valparaiso (Ind.) University.
