LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team added another win to their undefeated season with a 7-2 road victory over host Georgetown (Ky.) College in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Wildcats started the match with a 2-1 advantage after doubles play.
The No. 1-doubles tandem of juniors Lauren Wilson and Andrea Meyering battled for a 9-7 victory, while sophomores Rachael Heiniger and Kristen Futrell cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 2-doubles. Falling at No. 3-doubles was senior Aubrey Lohser and freshman Diane Jones with a tough 8-4 loss.
The Wildcats finished the match off in singles play by taking five of six singles points.
Heiniger cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1-singles, Wilson won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3-singles, and Futrell defeated her opponent at No. 4-singles with a 6-1, 7-5 victory. Freshman Kim Mella fought hard for a victory at No. 5-singles with a 6-3, 4-6, (15-13) win, while sophomore Sarah Richert was victorious at No. 6-singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Georgetown's only singles point came at the No. 2 position where Andrea Meyering fell 6-4, 1-6, 4-6.
With this victory the Wildcats improve to an overall 16-0 record (2-0 in Spring Season). The Wildcats will hit the courts again at 2 pm. on Friday March, 30 at IUPUI.
