Box Score 2 GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- No. 5-ranked Lee (Tenn.) University struck down No. 9-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball in a marathon 3-2 contest today in the last match for each team at the Boneyard Brawl in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Indiana Wesleyan lost by scores of 25-19, 24-26, 25-23, 25-27, 18-20. IWU loses its 24-match win streak that began on September 7 and the two top-10 programs have now played twice this season with each winning once.
Indiana Wesleyan did win its first match of the day against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College. IWU won by scores of 25-23, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21 as the win was the second this season against LWC.
Junior outside hitter Rae Brandes contributed a career-high 23 digs in the loss to Lee. Her previous career mark was 18 which she has set on numerous occasions. Brandes also had eight digs and two block assists.
Senior outside hitter Rachel Quackenbush added 14 kills and 13 digs while junior middle hitter Kristine Egebrecht totaled 13 kills and tied a career-high with eight block assists. Freshman middle hitter Kristin Predajna also had a big game in the middle for the Wildcats with 12 kills, a .417 attacking percentage, and three block assists.
Senior setter Yui Iwase set a new high mark this season with 60 assists and junior libero Rebecca Brandes added a team-best 23 digs.
In the Saturday opening match with Lindsey Wilson, Egebrecht smashed 19 kills with a .514 hitting percentage. Egebrecht also helped Indiana Wesleyan control play at the net with three solo blocks and five blocks assists. In all, Indiana Wesleyan blocked 13 Lindsey Wilson kill attempts.
Quackenbush contributed a double-double in the first match as well with 10 kills and 13 digs. Predajna added 11 kills with a .458 hitting percentage and sophomore opposite hitter Alijah Mulitauopele ended the game with 11 kills.
Indiana Wesleyan is now 31-2 this season and returns to the court at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 2 at Taylor (Ind.) University in Upland, Indiana. The match at Taylor is the regular season finale for the Wildcats.
