SPRING ARBOR, Mich. (Box Score) -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team continued their perfect season with another strong showing Tuesday at Mid-Central College Conference rival Spring Arbor University.
The Wildcats cruised to a 9-0 victory that opened with a 3-0 sweep at doubles.
Juniors Lauren Wilson and Andrea Meyering won 8-5 at the No. 1-doubles position while sophomores Kristen Futrell and Rachael Heiniger won easily at the No. 2-doubles position 8-1. Senior Aubrey Lohser and freshman Kim Mella rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory at the No. 3-doubles spot.
Indiana Wesleyan did not drop a set as they swept singles play for wins at all six singles positions.
Heiniger was victorious at No. 1-singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win, Meyering won 6-4, 6-1 at number No. 2-singles and Wilson earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 3-singles. Futrell defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4-singles, freshman Diane Jones captured a 6-2, 6-2 decision at No. 5-singles and Mella finished the match with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6-singles.
The Wildcats improve to 6-0 on the year and 4-0 in MCCcompetion.IWU hits the courts again at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament on September 15-17 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
