MOBILE, Ala. -- Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis defeated Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) College and Asbury (Ky.) University in the first two pool play matches of the NCCAA National Championship on Tuesday in Mobile, Alabama.
The Wildcats won both matches by identical 5-0 scores.
In doubles play versus Roberts Wesleyan, Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson won 8-2, Lisa Massey and Eva Delk earned an 8-3 victory and Caitlin McGuire and Aubrey Lohser finished the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win. Clinching the team victory in singles over RWC were Delk (6-0, 6-1) and Kristen Futrell (6-1, 6-0).
In the afternoon contest, Indiana Wesleyan improved to 2-0 at the national tournament with a 5-0 win over Asbury.
Meyering and Wilson (8-1), Massey and Delk (8-1) and McGuire and Lohser (8-0) all cruised to easy doubles victories. Rachael Heiniger (6-0, 6-0) and Futrell (6-0, 6-0) quickly finished the team victory with straight set wins in singles play.
Indiana Wesleyan will complete pool play on Wednesday at 10 a.m. against Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University. IWU has already clinched a berth into the NCCAA national semifinals and will play a school from the other pool at 3 p.m. on Thursday.
