ALBION, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan women's tennis finished off host Albion (Mich.) College on Tuesday by a 5-4 margin.
Two of the Wildcats' eight normal players were absent on Tuesday, forcing all six Wildcats to play in both singles and doubles in the victory.
Andrea Meyering teamed with Rachael Heiniger for an 8-1 win in No. 2-doubles while Caitlin McGuire and Aubrey Lohser won 8-3 in No. 3-doubles. Albion won No. 1-doubles 8-3 over Lisa Massey and Eva Delk as Indiana Wesleyan took a 2-1 advantage into singles play.
Needing three points in singles competition, Indiana Wesleyan got just that from its four to six positions.
Heiniger won No. 4-singles 6-0, 6-0 and McGuire was victorious 6-0, 6-2 in No. 5-singles. Lohser's 6-4, 6-2 victory in No. 6-singles clinched the match win for the Wildcats.
Massey lost 2-6, 4-6 in No. 1-singles, Meyering dropped a 1-6, 3-6 decision in No. 2-singles and Delk fell 2-6, 3-6 in No. 3-singles.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 18-1 this season and 5-1 during the spring portion of the schedule. IWU returns home with a 3 p.m. match versus Aquinas (Mich.) College on Friday, April 8 at the Sutter Tennis Center.
