LOCKPORT, Ill. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis team got back on track today as they cruised to victory over University of St. Francis (Ill.) with a score of 8-1.
The women opened doubles play with a 3-0 sweep of the matches.
The points were earned as sophomores Andrea Meyering and Lauren Wilson defeated A.C Tompkins and Danielle Emola 8-6, senior Lisa Massey and freshmen Rachael Heiniger defeated Princess Clemente and Corinne Lutz 8-4 and senior Caitlin McGuire and junior Aubrey Lohser finished the sweep as they defeated Barbara Koziol and Emily Zajda 8-1.
Indiana Wesleyan continued their winning ways taking five of the six singles points.
The Wildcat wins came as Meyering cruised to a win over Lutz (6-1,6-0), Wilson defeated Belza (6-1,6-2), Futrell battled to a win over Emola (6-3,6-4), Heiniger defeated Koziol (6-1, 6-0), and McGuire rounded out the wins as she defeated Zajda (6-1, 6-1).
The Saints lone point came at No. 1-singles as Princess Clemente defeated Lisa Massey in a close match (7-6(5) ,5-7, (6-10)).
The Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow against Davenport (Mich.) University at the MVP Sportsplex in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The match will begin at 3:00pm.
