Box Score 2 RICHMOND, Ind. -- Indiana University-East defeated the Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team for the second time this season with a 3-1 score on Wednesday night in Richmond, Indiana.
Indiana Wesleyan fell in four sets by scores of 23-25, 26-24, 21-25 and 21-25. IWU is now 4-5 on the year while IU-East advances to 16-0.
Freshman outside hitter Rae Brandes led the Wildcats with 11 kills and added seven digs on the night. Twin sister freshman defensive specialist Rebecca Brandes earned a team-best 15 digs.
Junior middle hitter Peyton Thompson supplied eight kills and six block assists while junior outside hitter Kate Denlinger contributed nine kills and four block assists. Sophomore setter Yui Iwase registered 45 assists.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home this weekend as IWU hosts the Best Western Wildcat Classic on Friday and Saturday. Indiana Wesleyan will play Cornerstone (Mich.) University Friday at 2 p.m. and Malone (Ohio) University at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, IWU battles Cedarville (Ohio) University at 10 a.m. and Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University at 2:30 p.m.
