JOLIET, Ill. - Indiana Wesleyan University women's tennis took to the court on Thursday and extended their undefeated streak to 17 straight wins this season with an 8-1 victory over host University of St. Francis (Ill.).
To start the match the Wildcats cruised to a 3-0 lead by sweeping doubles play.
The three quick points came as No. 1-doubles Lisa Massey and Eva Delk defeated Danielle Emola and Agnes Belza (8-1), No. 2-doubles Lauren Wilson and Andrea Meyering defeated Corinne Lutz and Carla Braun (8-0) and No. 3-doubles Caitlin McGuire and Courtney Kooyers completed the sweep with their win over Emily Zajda and Barb Koziol (8-2).
Indiana Wesleyan continued their winning ways by taking five of six available singles points.
The Wildcats points came at No. 1-singles when Massey defeated Lutz (6-1, 6-0), No. 2-singles when Meyering overpowered Emola (6-1, 6-1), No. 3-singles when Delk conquered Belza (6-0, 6-1), No. 4-singles when McGuire cruised past Braun (6-0,6-0) and No. 5-singles when Aubrey Lohser overcame Zajda (6-2, 6-1)
The Saints lone point came at No. 6-singles when Barb Koziol defeated Megan Bollier in a hard fought match (6-4, 6-4).
Indiana Wesleyan continues their road trip on Friday, April 16 against Hope (Mich.) College. The match will begin at 4 p.m. at Holland Christian High School in Holland, Michigan.
