SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- Indiana Wesleyan University captured a 9-0 victory over Spring Arbor (Mich.) University in women's tennis action on Saturday in Spring Arbor, Michigan.
The Wildcats move to 2-0 on the season with both wins coming in Mid-Central College Conference action.
Indiana Wesleyan opened the contest with three easy wins in doubles play. The No. 1 team of sophomores Lisa Massey and Eva Delk won 8-2 while the No. 2 tandem of senior Julia Hedgebeth and sophomore Caitlin McGuire earned an 8-4 win. Senior Laura Helm and junior Courtney Kooyers completed the sweep in doubles play with an 8-1 win in No. 3 competition.
In singles play, Indiana Wesleyan won four of the six matches in straight sets. Hedgebeth (6-4, 6-2), Massey (6-0, 6-0), Delk (6-1, 6-3) and Kooyers (6-0, 6-1) all earned two set wins while McGuire (6-2, 3-6, 6-4) and Helm (6-7, 6-1, 6-2) won in three sets.
The Wildcats return to action at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, as Indiana Wesleyan hosts Grant County rival Taylor (Ind.) University at the Sutter Tennis Center.
