WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University men's tennis team secured the Mid-Central College Conference championship with a convincing 9-0 win at Grace (Ind.) College on Tuesday afternoon.
Indiana Wesleyan ends the conference portion of their schedule with a perfect 7-0 record. The conference title nets the Wildcats an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament in May.
The top team of Ben Bischoff and Luke Wright won 8-3, the No. 2 tandem of Matt Pedersen and Carson VandenBossche gained a point with an 8-0 victory while Micah May and Luke Montgomery won 8-3 in No. 3 play.
Indiana Wesleyan continued their dominance into singles play, netting all six points.
Pedersen was the only Wildcat to go three sets as he won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Bischoff (6-1, 6-0), VandenBossche (6-2, 6-4), Wright (6-3, 6-0), May (6-1, 6-0) and Montgomery (6-1, 6-2) all won in straight sets.
Indiana Wesleyan is now 8-1 on the season.
