NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University volleyball team claimed a 3-1 victory on Wednesday night against last season's KIAC conference champion Indiana University - Southeast in New Albany, Indiana.

It was the first win of the season for the Wildcats after facing stiff competition at the Cougar Classic this past weekend in California.

Indiana Wesleyan (1-4) cruised to the win column by scores of 25-15, 25-10, 18-25, 25-12.

"Our goal is to get 1 percent better every day and to encourage and love each other in the process," said Indiana Wesleyan head coach Candace Moats.

Leading the way for Indiana Wesleyan was senior outside hitter Rebekah Reichard. She led the team with four aces and 19 kills as she tallied a .362 hitting percentage.

Junior setter Kelli Ziegler earned 23 assists while sophomore outside hitter Allison Holloway contributed two blocks. Freshman defensive specialist Kelsey Masuda gained a team best 13 digs.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to the court at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 3, as the Wildcats travel to play Anderson (Ind.) University.
