Box Score IWU Earns 3rd Consecutive Shutout
The Wildcats scored early and often today at Indiana Tech, as they charged to a 10-0 victory. The high temperatures didn?t faze the Indiana Wesleyan players as they executed their game plan putting consistent pressure on the Tech players when they possessed the ball. Megan Marshall was credited with the first goal just a little over 5 minutes into the first half as she finished a cross from the left flank from Claire Comerouski. Claire scored 10 minutes later as she dribbled through the middle and scored on a breakaway. Megan Marshall assisted on the next goal as Carly Comerouski scored the first of her 3 goals. Becca Mathews netted the 4th goal and freshman reserve midfielder scored her first goal of 3 as she was moved to forward. The halftime score of 5-0 was the result of 15 shots by the Wildcats with 9 of those on goal.
In the second half Carly Comerouski scored again with the assist coming from Megan Marshall with only 7 minutes gone in the 1st half. Near the mid point of the second half, Carly scored her 3rd goal with help from her sister, Errika Comerouski. Brittany Horswell scored her second goal unassisted and then got her first collegiate hat trick when she scored after Kate Turnow fed her a nice pass into the box. The 10th goal and last goal may arguably been the prettiest. Cat Turner served a 20 plus yard ball to April Singer at the backpost. Singer volleyed the ball into the net for her second goal of the 2007 season. The second half shots for IWU were 12 with 8 of those being on goal.
The Wildcats host the AFLAC Wildcat Classic this weekend as they host Trinity International University at 7:15 on the 7th and Houghton College on the 8th. Lee University will play the same teams in reverse order at 5 pm each day. All 4 teams were ranked in the preseason top 25 poll.
