WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - No. 11 Women's Soccer took on No. 5 University of the Cumberlands this afternoon down in Kentucky for their third road match of the week. It was the second ranked opponent this year for the Wildcats, this time being a top 5 NAIA team. Both teams showed why they are among the top teams in the nation with back and forth action. Cumberlands maintained ball advantage for most of the first half, taking 6 shots compared to IWU's 3. It was a very clean period of play with no goals scored and 0 corner kicks taken for either team. As the second half started, UC put pressure on the Wildcat defense early. The Patriots scored in the 53rd minute off of the first corner kick of the game. The rest of the second period was defense, defense, defense. Both teams battled hard and kept the opposing offense from creating momentum. The final minutes were fast paced and chaotic as IWU tried to tie the match, but were unable and walked away only losing by 1 goal to the No. 5 ranked team in the NAIA.
