MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women?s tennis team remained perfect this season with an 8-1 victory over conference foe Bethel (Ind.) College on Thursday night.
The Wildcats improve to 6-0 this season and 4-0 in the Mid-Central Collegiate Conference.
Indiana Wesleyan raced out to a quick 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles competition.
Brittany Raymond and Kristi Haddad won No. 1-doubles with Eva Delk and Lisa Massey capturing the point in No. 2-doubles. Each team won by an 8-1 margin. Courtney Kooyers and Laura Helm completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win in No. 3-doubles.
IWU proceeded to win five of the six singles matches.
Julia Hedgebeth won 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 action. Delk won No. 2-singles by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and Raymond earned a point in No.3-singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. Massey won 6-3, 6-2 in No. 4-singles while Haddad earned the win in No. 5-singles with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) win. Kooyers dropped her match in No. 6-singles 4-6, 6-7 (0-7).
Bethel falls to 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in the MCC.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the courts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, as the Wildcats host MCC rival Marian (Ind.) College.
