MARION, Ind. -- The unbeaten Indiana Wesleyan University women?s tennis team defeated Indiana Tech 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Sutter Tennis Center.
The Wildcats improve to 13-0 on the season while Indiana Tech drops to 1-8.
Indiana Wesleyan swept doubles competition to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. The No. 1 pair of senior Brittany Raymond and Kristi Haddad won 8-3 and the No. 2 team of freshmen Eva Delk and Lisa Massey earned an 8-2 victory. The No. 3-duo of sophomore Courtney Kooyers and junior Laura Helms won 8-0.
The Wildcats completed the sweep by capturing all six singles matches.
Junior Julia Hedgebeth won 6-3, 6-0 in No. 1-singles. Delk cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory as Raymond won by fault. She led 4-6, 6-4, 3-0 before her opponent had to retire due to the heat. Massey, Haddad and Kooyers completed the shutout with shutouts of their own. All three won by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the courts next weekend as the Wildcats compete in the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament being held October 11-13 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
