After 13 years at the helm as IWU’s Head Athletic Trainer, Mary Jacobs stepped into an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science role for Indiana Wesleyan University in 2022. She still provides coverage for the men's and women's swim & dive team.

Jacobs came to IWU in 2004, being named an Instructor of Athletic Training in the department and the Associate Athletic Trainer for the Wildcats. In 2005, she transitioned into an Assistant Professor of Athletic Training and Associate Athletic Trainer role. After four years, Jacobs continued as Assistant Professor of Athletic Training and was named Head Athletic Trainer, holding that position the past 13 years.

"Words truly cannot express the gratitude we have for Mary's many years of service to IWU as our Head Athletic Trainer" said Athletic Director Deane Webb. "I have heard countless stories of lives changed during her time in this role, from students in athletic training, to student-athletes she served on our teams, to coaches that worked alongside her in serving God through sport. I am thankful that we will still get to benefit from her wisdom and experience as she transitions into teaching in a full-time capacity."  

During her 18 years in Athletic Training, Jacobs worked with softball, women's soccer, women's basketball, and cheer programs at IWU.

"It is with mixed emotions that I make this change. I'm grateful for the last 13 years, sad to be stepping out of the role, and excited for what lies ahead," said Mary Jacobs. "I have loved my time as the head athletic trainer at IWU and coordinating the healthcare needs of our student-athletes. It's been an honor serving in an Athletic department that truly puts the right things first. Yes, the winning is fun, but seeing young men and women grow, develop, and compete all while bringing honor to God is what it's all about."
