MARION, Ind. – The newly ranked No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan Women's Soccer welcomed Indiana University East to IWU Soccer Field on Wednesday evening. The Wildcats dominated the Red Wolves on both sides of the pitch, coming away with a decisive 6-0 win.
The Wildcats started by feeling out the defense and getting some good shots early. IWU was able to get off 6 shots before IU East got its first in the 20th minute including one by Aliyah Denton that just hit the post. Avery Williams found the net first in the 25th minute assisted by Lauren Patzer. Just under 3 minutes later, Williams netted her second of the day. Lauren Patzer added on to her one point by scoring her first of the season in the 32nd minute after an assist by Breena Ireland. After coming out of halftime up 3-0, the Wildcats were not finished. Leading goal scorer Alyssa Hamann scored her 9th and 10th goals of 2026 in the 51st and 59 minutes, the first assisted by Katelyn VanderArk and the second assisted by Dylan Gonzalez. Finally, to cap it off, Julia Tiemann was able to score her first goal of the year in the 86th minute. The defense did what it has all year and only allowed 3 shots with Avery Sluss only needing 1 save.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Avery Williams scored the first two goals of the game, the first assisted by Lauren Patzer in the 25th minute and the second unassisted in the 28th minute.
- Patzer would then score a goal of her own in the 32nd minute as Breena Ireland picks up her first career assist.
- Senior Alyssa Hamann led the way in the second half picking up a goal in the 51st minute to put IWU up 4-0.
- Hamann scored once again in the 59th minute of action assisted this time by Dylan Gonzalez.
- Defender Julia Tiemann put the finishing touches on the match by scoring unassisted in the 86th minute.

PATZER PERSPECTIVE
- "Coming into the game I knew I needed to bring the energy and drive," said Lauren Patzer. "The groups of us that came into the game has the mindset of being game changers and the impact was immediate. I was able to find Avery who had a beautiful finish. That started the momentum and we were able to build on that as Breena was able to find me in the box and I was able to put it away to help our momentum. From there as an entire team we rallied and took care of business with a decisive win. It was a great all team effort."
