COLUMBUS, Ga. - Indiana Wesleyan Softball advanced to the next round of the 2026 NAIA National World Series after an extra innings battle with fellow Crossroads League member, No. 22 Marian University on Thursday morning. The Wildcats overcame multiple defensive errors and two deficits to force extra innings and came away with a 4-3 victory after 8 innings due to a
Sara Ruble walk-off single that score
Whitney Waddell.
The first inning started rough for IWU as Marian scored 2 runs on 3 errors by the defense. However, they came back strong and tied it at 2 after a
Morgan Yeater RBI triple and a
Maddie Martin SAC fly in the bottom of the 1st. Marian scored their 3rd run in the 3rd inning to go up 3-2. The Wildcats evened the scoring once more in the bottom of the 4th when Yeater singled to score
Sara Ruble. After scoreless innings in the 5th, 6th, and 7th, the game between the 8 and 9 seeds went to extra innings. In the 8th inning,
Isabelle Beidelschies pitched a 1-2-3 frame to give IWU the chance to walk it off.
Whitney Waddell started the inning with a double and was moved to third base on a SAC bunt by
Leah May. After a
Madisyn Tharpe walk,
Sara Ruble won the game with a single that brought home Waddell and capped off her 3 hit day. Indiana Wesleyan will face the 1 seed Madonna University tomorrow evening.
