MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan Softball split their doubleheader with No. 20 Marian on Friday afternoon to go 2-2 against the Knights this year. MU took game 1 in a low scoring affair, 2-0. IWU came back with a strong offensive performance and pulled out the win in game 2, 8-6.
Marian won the pitching battle between two of the top pitchers in the Crossroads League. The Knights scored solo runs in the 3rd and 5th innings to take a 2-0 advantage. The Wildcats were unable to put any offense together to come back.
IWU built a strong lead in the 1st inning of game two with 5 runs. They added 2 more in the 3rd inning on back-to-back singles by
Malayni Clemens and
Courtney Thomas. Marian picked up 3 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings but the Wildcats had scored enough in the early innings to hold their lead and come out with the 8-6 victory.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Game 1 was a pitching battle between Marian's Macy Coan and IWU's Avery Toole.
- Marian was able to score once in the 3rd and another in the 5th to win 2-0.Â
- Both pitchers pitched exactly 103 pitches and went the distance but Coan came out on top as IWU's offense struggled to find answers.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Brylee Bilger started the scoring with a bases loaded single in the 1st. Whitney Waddell followed with a batted ball that scored Morgan Yeater aided by a Marian error. Leah May and Malayni Clemens brought in two more runs in the inning.
- Clemens singled again in the 3rd inning to bring home Waddell and Courtney Thomas followed a couple at-bats later with a single that scored Leah May.
- The Knights were able to pick up 3 runs in the top of the 4th inning.
- Brylee Bilger hit her 12th home run of the season in the bottom of the 4th to put IWU up 8-3.
- Marian again put up 3 runs on the scoreboard in the following inning, but no runs were scored the rest of the way and IWU walked away with the win.

- The Wildcats finish the regular season with a doubleheader against Huntington on Saturday, April 25th at 1:00 PM. IWU will be celebrating their graduating seniors after both games.
