GOSHEN, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan Softball crossed the 30 win threshold with a pair of wins over Goshen College on Tuesday afternoon. Game 1 ended in 6 innings with a score of 12-1 and game 2 also finished in 6 innings with a score of 9-1.
In the first game of the day, IWU and Goshen were scoreless for 3 innings until
Maddie Martin hit a home run in the 4th to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead. It remained 1-0 until the top of the 6th inning when IWU exploded for 11 runs, highlighted by four bases loaded RBI at-bats.
Avery Toole went the distance in the circle, collecting her 15th win in a complete game shutout.
The offense continued its momentum into game 2, scoring early and often. The 1st inning saw 4 runs come across, the 2nd saw 3, and the 3rd saw 1. The Maple Leafs were able to score their lone run of the day in the 2nd inning but were unable to plate anymore, leaving 11 runners on base in the contest. 5 different Wildcats recorded an RBI and 4 different pitchers came in to shutdown Goshen. Sophomore
Alana Deshetsky saw her first action in the circle as a Wildcat, closing out the game with a scoreless inning.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Both Goshen and IWU started with 1-2-3 1st innings and kept 0's on the scoreboard for the first 3 innings.
- Maddie Martin scored the first run of the day with a solo home run to left field in the 4th inning.
- No runs were scored in the 4th or 5th but IWU went to work in the top of the 6th. Back-to-back singles and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for Courtney Thomas. Thomas came through with a double the scored 2 runners. Two consecutive hit by pitches loaded the bases again and scored another run. Danica Fuller hit the second double of the inning, scoring Leah May and Madisyn Tharpe to put IWU up 6-0.Whitney Waddell folloewd with a well-placed bunt to reach first and load the bases once more. Morgan Yeater then tripled, clearing the bases and pushing the lead to 9. After Maddie Martin drew a walk, Brylee Bilger hit a deep shot to center field for the final 3 runs of the inning.
- Freshman Avery Toole started and finished the game pitching for IWU, only allowing 3 hits and striking out 6 in a shutout.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Whitney Waddell scored the first run of the second game with some help by an error from Goshen in the 1st inning. With 2 outs and the bases juiced yet again, Malayni Clemens smacked a ball through the infield for a 3 RBI double.
- In the 2nd inning, Maddie Martin drew a walk with the bases loaded for another run. Brylee Bilger followed that up with a single that drove home Whitney Waddell and Morgan Yeater to give IWU the 7-0 lead.
- Goshen scored their one and only run of the day with a walk drawn with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 2nd inning.
- IWU produced another run when Danica Fuller led off the 3rd inning with a triple and was brought home by Waddell in the next at-bat.
- The final run of the ball game came courtesy of a Sara Ruble single through the middle of the infield that drove home Courtney Thomas from 2nd base.
- Freshman Natalee Packard collected her first career pitching win with an effective inning of relief and sophomore Alana Deshetsky closed out the game in the 6th with a quality inning in her first pitching appearance in a Wildcat jersey.
