TUCSON, Ariz. – Indiana Wesleyan Softball finalized their spring break Arizona trip to two games against Daktoa Wesleyan and then University of Providence. IWU took both games by wide margins in 5 innings with a 12-4 score in game 1 and a 15-0 score in game 2.
The Wildcats scored early and often against the Tigers of Dakota Wesleyan. The bats put together quite the game, putting 12 runs on the board, with 9 coming in the last 2 innings of the game. 8 of 9 Wildcat batters recorded a hit and
Isabelle Beidelschies tossed another strong game to earn the win.
Morgan Yeater got on base in every at-bat and
Whitney Waddell went 3-4 with 3 RBIs, and a triple.
Brylee Bilger also had a great day at the plate with another HR and a double. In the end, IWU came out on top 12-4 in 5 innings.
IWU did not let up in game 2, going out and trouncing the Argos of Providence (Mont.). 15 different batters came to the plate and 8 got at least 1 hit. Indiana Wesleyan put up an astounding 13 runs in the 4th inning. 7 different Wildcats registered an RBI in the inning alone.
Avery Toole pitched 4 innings and struck out 8 while only walking 1. Bilger hit her second home run of the day and drew 3 walks, while
Maddie Martin and
Morgan Yeater had almost identical stat lines, going 2-3 with 3 RBIs and 1 double. Junior
Carli Merritt got her first RBI and run of the year during the game.
Malayni Clemens once again came in and shut the door in the final inning.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- IWU was up 2-1 after the whole 1st inning as Maddie Martin drove in 2 RBIs but Dakota Wesleyan scored 1.
- The 2nd inning flipped that score as Whitney Waddell batted home a run but DWU crossed 2 in the bottom half of the inning.
- After 3, Dakota Wesleyan had taken a 4-3 lead.
- However, IWU would retake the lead and hold it with 5 runs in the 4th, highlighted by the Waddell 2 RBI triple and the Bilger 2 RBI home run.
- Isabelle Beidelschies shut out the Tigers the rest of the way and the offense scored 4 more runs in the top of the 5th to win by run rule.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- IWU continued its hot streak in the second game by scoring in 3 of their 4 offensive half innings.
- Yeater earned an RBI in the 2nd, Madisyn Tharpe got one in the 3rd, and then the offense kicked down the door in the 4th scoring 13. Maddie Martin hit a double for 3 runs, Brylee Bilger hit her second home run of the day for 2 more, Alexis Thompson and Danica Fuller both brought 1 home, as well as Yeater and Carli Merritt earning an RBI each and Ashley Veltman finished it off with her first career RBI.
NEXT TIME OUT
- IWU begins conference play on March 10th against Grace College at 3:00 PM.
