Efficient Shooting Leads Wildcats to Statement Win Over Huntington

MARION, Ind. – No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan men's basketball showcased one of its most efficient offensive performances of the year on Wednesday night, defeating Huntington University 93-71 in Luckey Arena. The Wildcats were locked in from the opening tip, shooting a blistering 60% from the field to tie their season-high mark. The perimeter attack was equally lethal as IWU knocked down 14 three-pointers, the second-highest total for the team this season. Perhaps most impressively, the Wildcats protected the rock with elite precision, recording a season-low six turnovers. Leading the charge was Caedmon Bontrager, who secured his third consecutive game with 20 or more points, continuing a dominant stretch of play in Crossroads League action.

FIRST HALF
  • The Wildcats jumped out to an early advantage with a 7–0 start, sparked by Jake Smith's 3-pointer at 17:40.
  • The Foresters responded with a series of successful plays for an 8-3 run, narrowing the gap to 14-13.
  • Caedmon Bontrager led the red and grey with key contributions, including a tip-in at 10:43 to extend their lead.
  • IWU maintained control, closing the half with a jumper by Bontrager at the buzzer, taking a 46–36 lead into halftime.

SECOND HALF
  • The red and grey surged with a sequence of three-pointers, including one by Isaac Andrews at 14:53, extending their lead. The team made 14 three-pointers in total, marking their second-highest tally of the season.
  • Millen McCartney and Andrews each converted from beyond the arc, contributing to a 15-point advantage midway through the half.
  • Despite HU's efforts to close the gap with scoring from Jackson Paul and Kaden Johnson, Indiana Wesleyan maintained control with efficient shooting.
  • Indiana Wesleyan closed the half with a substantial cushion, leading 93–71 at the final buzzer.
