MARION, Ind. - No. 6 Men's Soccer hosted the Madonna University Crusaders for an evening matchup at IWU Soccer Field. The Wildcats looked good early with pressure on the Crusaders and taking multiple corner kicks. Madonna answered with pressure of their own and the match became very back and forth. Both defenses would stop attacks which turned into attacks for the offense and the cycle continued. Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first period but IWU maintained the ball control advantage and won the shot battle with 9 compared to 1 for MU. Under a minute into the second half, Diego Palma received an assist from Jose Garcia, who returned from injury for his first match of the year, to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead. Later, in the 76th minute Yarek Carnegie scored his fourth goal of the season, again assisted by Garcia. Madonna returned the favor in the 78th minute to cut the lead down to 2-1 and the momentum stayed in their favor. The Crusaders would go on to score two more goals in the span of 5 minutes to take a 3-2 advantage. IWU tried to answer back with a push but were unable to equalize the score.
