MARION, Ind. - The Indiana Wesleyan University athletic department has named
Lance Quessenberry as the Associate Athletic Director for Facilities & Recreation. Quessenberry brings years of comprehensive experience in athletic administration and operations, positioning him to enhance IWU's facility management and recreational programming for student-athletes, staff, and the broader Wildcat community.
"Lance brings a level of maturity, both professionally and personally, that will impact our department and the students in our care here at IWU," said
Deane Webb, Director of Athletics. "His heart for serving Christ and students was evident throughout the interview process, and I'm thrilled God has called him to IWU. I am especially looking forward to him joining our athletic leadership team and seeing the ways God will use him as we both pursue excellence and seek to influence others for Christ."
Quessenberry comes to IWU after spending the last 10 years as the Secondary Athletic and Activities Director at Summit Christian Academy in Lee's Summit, Missouri. During his tenure, he led the operational and administrative success of the department's 17 sports. He also managed program budgets, coordinated uniform and equipment orders with vendors and coaches, and handled the contracting and scheduling of games and matches. Additionally, he oversaw the coordination of game officials for all home competitions, arranged travel logistics with the transportation department for away contests, and conducted eligibility checks for athletes during mid- and end-of-quarter/semester grade reviews.
Prior to his time at Summit Christian Academy, he spent nine years as the Head Baseball Coach and Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at Evangel University from 2006-2015. He also spent 10 years earlier as a Head Baseball Coach and Physical Education Instructor at three different high schools from 1996-2006.
"I am truly thankful to God for the opportunity to join the IWU family," said
Lance Quessenberry. "Throughout the interview process, it was clear to me that the favor of God is upon IWU, and I am genuinely excited to be a part of what He is doing here. There is a strong sense of excellence in all that IWU undertakes, and I look forward to contributing and advancing the mission God has set before us."
He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Southwest Baptist University in 1996. He has also earned two master's degrees in Education from Southwest Baptist in 2002 and Educational Leadership from Evangel University in 2015.
Lance is married to his wife, Darla, and they just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last May. They have one child, Keyler, who is a junior at the University of Arkansas.
