MARION, Ind. – No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan Softball matched up with Spring Arbor University on Thursday in a rescheduled doubleheader. IWU made a late game comeback from down 2-1 to win 4-2 in game 1. The Wildcats kept up their good play in game 2 with a 4-1 win.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Game 1 started with 2 runs from Spring Arbor in the top of the 1st.
• IWU would score their first run in the 2nd inning when Ella Phillips hit a SAC fly to score Brylee Bilger from third base.
• Malayni Clemens tossed 5 straight scoreless innings after the 1st to keep the Wildcats close.
• The offense would help her out in the bottom of the 6th scoring 3 to take the lead for the first time. Phillips collected her second RBI singling through the right side to score Bilger once again. Courtney Thomas would come in to score right after when Maddie Martin hit a SAC fly into the outfield. Clemens followed that up with a double to score Chloe Poe who had come in to pinch run for Phillips.
• Isabelle Beidelschies entered to finish the game for Indiana Wesleyan in the top of the 7th and earned the save.

 

 

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Jordyn Ball started the game for the Wildcats recording 3 quick outs with 2 strikeouts in the top of the 1st.
• The bats also started the game well scoring 1 in the bottom of the 1st. Whitney Waddell singled to center field and came around two batters later to give IWU the lead, 1-0.
• Indiana Wesleyan earned another run in the 2nd when Maddie Martin came in to score off a ball hit by Leah May.
• The Wildcats extended their lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the 3rd. Courtney Thomas gained an RBI by batting in Morgan Yeater then Abby Harvey scored in the next at bat after an error.
• Ball pitched well, striking out 8 and only allowing 1 run in 7 innings of work.
