Ignite Family Game Day: A Heartfelt Event to Support Pediatric Oncology
On February 8th, join the community for an unforgettable afternoon at the Ignite Family Game Day, a special event that combines the spirit of basketball with the power of giving. This event, hosted by the student-led non-profit organization Ignite, is a group of passionate students committed to raising both funds and awareness for pediatric oncology at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. Last year, the organization raised an impressive $13,400.39, and this year, they have set their sights on raising $15,000. All funds raised will directly benefit the pediatric oncology unit at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital, providing critical support for children and families on their cancer journey.
Both the IWU men's and women's basketball teams will play against the University of Saint Francis on Saturday, February 8th. During both halftime breaks, you'll hear moving stories from our miracle families—those whose lives have been touched by the care and support of Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. Our miracle families will share their powerful experiences, reminding us all of the strength and resilience of children facing serious health challenges. Their stories will shine a light on the importance of continued support for pediatric cancer research and treatment.
A central highlight of the afternoon will be the Teddy Bear Toss, a heartwarming tradition where fans are encouraged to throw stuffed animals onto the basketball court. These stuffed animals will then be collected and donated to the children at Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. There will be a designated table where you can purchase a new stuffed animal on-site. This gesture is a symbol of love, compassion, and hope for the children who will receive these bears as a source of comfort during their hospital stays.
