DEEP SHOOTING LIFTS WILDCATS PAST PILOTS

MARION, IND. - No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan women's basketball moved to 22-0 on Saturday, taking down Bethel 76-60. The Wildcats trailed by one at halftime and failed to score until the 6:20 mark of the 3rd quarter, but a strong defensive effort kept them in the game before a barrage of threes put the Pilots away.

 WHAT HAPPENED


 

  • The Pilots began the game hot from the field, shooting 7-12 and knocking down 4 triples on their way to a 23-20 lead after the first quarter.
  • Neither squad got much going in the second. IWU outscored Bethel 14-12 to cut the lead to 1 at half. 
  • An Izzy Reed triple with 6:20 remaining in the third finaly took the lid off the basket in the second half for the Wildcats. The defense kept the team in the game by forcing 5 turnovers and holding BU to 2-8 from the field. IWU ended up outscoring Bethel 19-11 in the quarter to retake the lead.
  • The threes kept falling for Indiana Wesleyan, they knocked down 5 in the fourth to extend their lead to as much as 20 on their way to their 22nd win of the season.

  • 14: The red and gray used the deep ball to overcome a tough shooting day with 14 threes, second most on the season.
  • 20: The Wildcats had good ball movement, leading to 20 assists.
