NO. 5 WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL MAINTAINS LEAGUE LEAD WITH SWEEP OF PILOTS

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Indiana Wesleyan University (IN) (20-3, 13-0) swept Bethel University (IN) (14-12, 6-7) in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, posting scores of 25-21, 25-14, and 25-14. The Wildcats achieved a .370 hitting percentage, dominating the match from start to finish. With the win and a loss by MVNU, Indiana Wesleyan holds a four game advantage in the Crossroads League with just five games remaining.

SET ONE

  • Bethel opened with an early 3-0 lead, capitalizing on an Indiana Wesleyan service error and two kills.  
  • IWU responded with a 7-0 run, highlighted by two kills from Marin Sanchez and a service ace by Eva Joldersma, to take an 8-6 lead.  
  • BU rallied back to close the gap to 13-12 following a service ace band consecutive kills. 
  • The red and gray extended the lead to 23-18 with strong defensive plays, including a block from Marin Sanchez and Jessica Ickes, before closing the set 25-21 on a Shae Williams kill.  
 

SET TWO 

  • IWU opened with a strong start, gaining an 8-2 lead after a service ace by Eva Joldersma.  
  • Cadee Notter's serving run extended the advantage to 14-5, prompting a timeout from Bethel.  
  • Indiana Wesleyan maintained control with a balanced attack, reaching 21-8 following a kill by Eva Joldersma.
  • The visitors secured the set at 25-14 with a final kill from Shae Williams.
 

SET THREE 

  • The Wildcats capitalized on early errors by the Pilots to establish a 7-3 lead, with Eva Joldersma contributing consecutive kills.   
  • The visiting side extended their advantage to 15-8, highlighted by a series of kills from Marissa Mullins, prompting a timeout from Bethel at 14-8.  
  • Following the timeout, IWU continued their momentum with a service ace from Dayessi Luis and maintained control with an 8-point cushion at 19-11.  
  • Shae Williams secured the set with a kill, concluding the period at 25-14.
