MARION, Ind. - No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan Men's Soccer began their four game home-stand with a match against Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday night. The Wildcats asserted pressure early on, as Taha and Islam Houssni both tested the opposing goalkeeper within the first three minutes. Kai Haskell opened the scoring in the 10th minute, marking his second goal of the season. Shortly after, Yarek Carnegie capitalized on an assist from Mariano Chaves in the 15th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. Indiana Wesleyan maintained control throughout the half, effectively limiting the Cougars' opportunities. The visitors managed only two off-target attempts, while IWU continued to press forward. The first half concluded with Indiana Wesleyan holding a 2-0 advantage. The Wildcats began the second half with a strong offensive push. Carnegie scored again in the 56th minute, assisted by Chaves again, extending the lead to 3-0. Guzman Trigo found the net in the 61st minute with assistance from Carnegie. Today's goal for Trigo marks the first of the season for the midfielder. Finally, near the end of the match, freshman Jameson Neill scored his first career collegiate goal from Javier Enciso's first career assist to push the lead up to 5. The Wildcats play again at home against Saint Francis on Saturday.
