MARION, Ind. - No. 7 Women's Soccer celebrated their graduating seniors with an afternoon match against Goshen College on Saturday. Seniors Jada Swanson, Mackenzie Minney, and Madelynn Welker helped IWU to the big win on the day and were honored post game for their contributions to the program. The first half began with IWU establishing early control, applying pressure on Goshen's defense. Aliyah Denton tested the Maple Leafs with multiple attempts, but it was Sarah Foulk who capitalized in the 11th minute with an assist from Katelyn VanderArk, putting the Wildcats up 1-0. The team's momentum continued as Julia Tiemann extended the lead to 2-0 in the 23rd minute, assisted by Madelynn Welker. Tiemann's goal today marks her first career goal. IWU's offensive efforts persisted, culminating in another goal by Foulk in the 39th minute, assisted by Sydney Couch, to close the half with a commanding 3-0 advantage. The Wildcats absolutely dominated across the board with 26 shots compared to 0 for Goshen. The domination continued into the second half as Welker found the back of the net in the 46th minute, assisted by Anna Pettitt, extending the lead to 4-0. Welker struck again just four minutes later, bringing the score to 5-0 and reinforcing the team's offensive explosion. The 5 goal advantage stayed true the rest of the match as IWU registered the program highest amount of shots in a game since 2020 (50) with 53 shots! The defense played just as well as the offense and only allowed 2 shots, neither of which were on frame.
