MEN'S BASKETBALL EARNS KEY WIN AT HOME OVER NO. 18 HUNTINGTON

MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan men's basketball were back in Luckey Arena on Saturday for a match-up against No. 18 Huntington. After falling on the road to the Foresters earlier in the season, the Wildcats picked up an important league win to move to 14-6 overall and 4-6 in conference play. This marks IWU's first ranked win of the season as they begin their second round through the Crossroads League.

WHAT HAPPENED


 

  • The game became physical fast with both teams reaching seven team fouls and the bonus in the first ten minutes of play. IWU led HU 17-16 after going 5-10 from the field.
  • A low-scoring half saw Huntington take a narrow 35-34 lead into halftime. Indiana Wesleyan shot 45.8% from the field and 44.4% from three. 
  • An 11-3 run from Luke Brown and Caedmon Bontrager helped push the Wildcat lead to 54-49 halfway through the second half.
  • After holding a two-point lead with five minutes to go, IWU went on a 15-7 run to push their lead to 77-67 with just under a minute remaining. The Wildcats shot a perfect 5-5 during the span, including a three-pointer from Brown and Bontrager.
