Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

NO. 17 WOMEN'S SOCCER LATE GAME HEROICS LEADS TO TIE WITH NO. 10 MARIAN, 1-1

MARION, Ind. - No. 17 Women's soccer late game heroics leads to a tie with No. 10 Marian University. Tonight's game was a back and forth, physical battle the whole way. Marian would strike first in the 29th minute to take the 1-0 lead. This would be the only goal for either side in the first half and for the majority of the second half. Both teams played tough defense and would not let anything past them. IWU kept the pressure on and it would eventually pay off with a goal in the 80th minute by freshman Alejandra Tavarez. The Wildcats held off the late push by the Knights and the game ended with a 1-1 draw.

SEIFFERT PERSPECTIVE

  • "Tonight was a tail of two halves. Credit to Marian, I thought they came out and were on the front foot in the first half, but our girls really showed up well in the second," said Head Coach Daniel Seiffert. "We settled in quite well and really started to play more our style of play. It was a really good total team effort and to bounce back after conceding a goal is really something that we can build off of. We have a short turn around time before our next league game so we will learn from this one and will look forward to getting back out on the training grounds tomorrow."
