  • WEEK 3: Indiana Wesleyan (2-0) at Valparaiso (0-2)
  • The No. 5-ranked Wildcats hit the road for a NCAA FCS match-up. Valpo has started 0-2 to start the season with losses to Northern Illinois and Youngstown State, while the Wildcats are off to a hot start with wins against Madonna and Saint Francis (Ind.).

  • Two talented programs meeting on the field this weekend in this NCAA/NAIA crossover.
  • IWU leads the all-time series 2-1, but have yet to gain a win on the road.

 WILDCAT LEADERS


 

  • Kyle Antoine continues to shine in his first season at QB1 for the Wildcats. He is 40-of-53 for 605 yards and eight touchdowns. Through two games, he is averaging 302.5 yards in the air. He has only tossed one interception.
  • Antoine has two top targets so far this year. Levi Tidwell has grabbed 10 catches for a team-high 201 yards. Isaac Smith leads the team with four touchdowns on 11 receptions for 161 yards. Myles Cox, Ryan Whitwell, and Grant Irwin have each recorded a touchdown through the first two games. 
  • Ryan Whitwell leads the ground attack for IWU with 318 yards. He is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and has two rushing touchdowns for IWU. Roosevelt Cage and Brock Short are the only other student-athletes that have at least 10 rushing attempts on the season. Cage has 166 yards on 16 carries, while finding the endzone four times. Short has totaled 57 yards on 13 attempts.
 
  • Luke Bays has a team-best 17 tackles, while Drake Deshetsky has 14. Anthony Cheesebourough leads the team with 2 sacks and a forced fumble.
  • Neil Campbell has a team-best two interceptions, and Jordan Hill has one. Campbell has six pass break-ups.
  • Nolan Foley has punted five times and is averaging 31 yards a kick. He has placed one inside the 20 yard line with his long being 51 yards.
  • Josh Clifton has been perfect this season, going 14-14 on PAT's with two field goals from 30 and 37 yards.

  • Redshirt freshman Caron Tyler leads Valpo as a dual-threat quarterback.
  • In his debut last game, Tyler went 8-of-17 through the air for 160 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 120 yards and two scores on 15 carries.
  • Mike Mansaray will share in the rushing duties after tallying 52 yards on 16 attempts and a touchdown.
  • Mansaray is also the leading receiver with 3 catches for 79 yards. Gary Givens III has caught the lone touchdown reception for Valpo this year.
  • Defensively, Colin Graves leads the way with 17 tackles, including 7 solos stops. Jimmy Pouba has 15 tackles. Sam Hafner has the only sack.
  • Nicholas Lendino has a team-best two pass break-ups.
  • Sam Johnson has recorded 14 punts and is averaging 46.4 yards an attempt. Ryan Hawk drilled a 26-yard field goal in his lone attempt of the season.

 WHAT TO WATCH


 

  • IWU was unable to bring home a win in their lone trip to Valpo in 2022 and will look to extend their series lead to 3-1.
  • IWU's explosive offense that averages 55.5 points per game takes the field against a Valpo defense that has given up 47 points per game.
  • IWU has totaled 20 penalties for 211 yards in their first two games and will look to limit these self-imposed wounds.
