ANDERSON, Ind. - No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan men's soccer took easy care of Anderson University in their season opener winning 9-0. The shots came fast and furious as the Wildcats scored three times on twenty four shots in the first half alone. Guzman Trigo started the party with a goal assisted by Jose Garcia in the 16th minute. Brandon Nyagurungo scored later in the half in the 25th minute again assisted by Jose Garcia. The third goal of the half came from Giuseppe Santacroce just into the 31st minute. The IWU defense dominated against the attack of Anderson, not allowing a single shot to be registered in the first half. It didn't take long for the Wildcats to resume their goal scoring ways in the second half as Cole Little scored his first goal of the year in the 48th minute. Jose Garcia collected yet another assist as Diego Aldanda found the back of the net during the 51st minute. Taha Houssni, Jaxon Carpenter, and Yarek Carnegie all got to join the party scoring in the 54th, 66th, and 71st minutes respectively. The final goal of the game was scored by Jose Garcia, who added a goal to his already impressive stat line. The IWU goalkeepers did not have much action tonight, only having to save two shots all night, both in the second half.

- The first goal of the new season came off of the foot of Guzman Trigo from an assist from Jose Garcia in the 16th minute.

- The Wildcat defense held strong all night, particularly in the first half as the Ravens of Anderson did not even take a shot.
- Six more Wildcats made it into the goal category in the second half and the defense and goalkeepers made sure no comeback was made.
- 37: The Wildcats registered thirty seven total shots on the night compared to Anderson's three.
- 9: IWU scored a total of 9 goals. This was the same amount of goals that IWU scored last year in the season opener as well.
- 2: The goalkeepers of IWU only had to save two shots on goal all night.
- "We played well tonight and I was proud of the mentality we started with." said Cole Little . "Although we scored nine goals, we missed some must-have chances that we look to correct moving forward. It was a solid night for team chemistry and confidence, and we look to bring this into Saturday's first home game of the season."
