KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The NAIA released the seeding and opponents on Tuesday evening of the 2024 NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round. The Wildcats are making their ninth-consecutive tournament appearance, and they travel to the campus of the Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo.
In the double-elimination bracket, IWU is the No. 2-seed and their first matchup will be against No. 3-seed College of Idaho on Monday, May 13th. The other three teams in the bracket are No. 1 seed-Central Methodist (Mo.), No. 4-seed Mid-America Christian (Okla.) and No. 5-seed Dickinson State (N.D.).
No. 3-seeded College of Idaho enters the Opening Round boasting a record of 32-17. The Yotes earned an at-large bid out of the Cascasde Collegiate Conference and were ranked No. 15 in the final NAIA Coaches' Top 25-Poll. No. 4-seeded Mid-America Christian (Okla.) went 36-15 this season and also earned an at-large bid out of the Sooner Athletic Conference. They will match-up against the No. 5-seed Dickinson State (N.D.) who earned an automatic berth as the tournament champions of the North Star Athletic Conference with a 24-22 record. The host site of the Fayette Bracket is Central Methodist University with a 48-4 overall record. The Eagles earned an automatic bid as both the regular season and tournament championships of the Heart of America Athletic Conference and were ranked No. 3 in the final NAIA Coaches' Top 25-Poll.
